Final

For our final we needed to use a skill that we learned over the semester. I decided to use the scanner to restore my wedding photos from 23 years ago.

Loss of Farm Land - Welcome to the Country

California farm land has decreased over the past thirty years by 9 million acres. The population of California has increased by 3.9 million people over the past seven years and continues to grow. This is an increase of over 550,000 people per year. We are constantly losing our farm land to the growth of housing tracts. There appears to be plenty of homes for sale so why do we keep building new ones? Is it because Americans are materialistic and want a new home instead of a previously lived in one? The San Joaquin valley produces 50% of California’s total crop production. During the last 50 years the California almond industry has become the dominant worldwide producer. The San Joaquin Valley produces 100% of the domestic supply and 75% of the international supply of almonds. If we continue to lose our precious farm land to build more single family homes, I fear that we will no longer be able to produce enough food for future generations to survive.
